Electrolytes

Electrolyte imbalances are common in cancer patients and can significantly impact health and treatment outcomes. These imbalances often involve key electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Electrolyte disorders in cancer patients can arise from the cancer itself, treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, or other medications.

Electrolyte imbalances can cause symptoms ranging from mild to severe, including fatigue, muscle weakness, confusion, and cardiac issues. Maintaining proper hydration and monitoring electrolyte levels are essential parts of effectively managing cancer treatment.

When selecting an electrolyte product, ensure it is not packed with sugar, coloring, or other undesirable additives. These are brands I know of in New Zealand that will support electrolyte balance.

Food

Bone broth is rich in nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, essential for bone health. It contains collagen and gelatin for joint health and digestion. It also provides amino acids for reducing inflammation and supporting muscle repair. Additionally, bone broth aids gut health, supports the immune system, and provides hydration.
